Q) What happens after I have booked my dates with you? 

A) Once we have confirmed that the dates are available we will ask you for an email address/postal address, so we can send you booking information. Once the initial booking fee has been paid the dates are yours. You will get an invoice to state the full amount due 4 weeks before the hire date. 

Q) What if my travel date are less than 4 weeks away?

A) We would require the full amount of hire to be paid at the time of booking/confirmation. 

Q) What documents do I need?

A) We will need to see each driver’s full licence, plus a utilities bill with an address that matches your license that’s dated within the last 3 months. We also ask you to obtain a code from the DVLA to supply to us, so we can do relevant driving license checks. You can do this simply and securely on line. We will send you a form to complete.

 

Q) What is the code for the DVLA check and how do I obtain it?

A) This is a code that allows you to check or share your driver information and can be easily obtained from GOV.UK website.  The code is only valid for 21 days and you will need your national insurance number, driver licence number and post code where the licence is registered. 

Q) Will I need to get my own insurance?

A) The rental of the van includes fully comprehensive insurance, please ensure that you meet the driver criteria which is: Drivers are over 25 & Under 75, No more than 1 fault accident in the last 3 years, no driving convictions/offences in the last 3 years, hold a current full UK driving licence for 2 years or more & no more than 6 points endorsed. Please ensure you check this and that you meet the criteria. Please note, if you have been convicted of a drink/drug driving offence in the last 5 years you will not be eligible to hire our campervans.

Q) Will I have to pay a deposit?

A) When we agree your booking, we ask for a booking deposit that secures the date, this amount will depend on the total cost of your rental. We ask that the full balance is paid 4 weeks before the hire date.

Q)  Will I have to pay a security deposit?                                                                                                     

A) For the date of hire we will also require a deposit of £500 to cover any damage/breakages and insurance excess. This will be returned to you within 7 days of the vehicle being returned on time and in the same condition it was hired out to you (see our T & Cs) 

The Security deposit amount needs to be cleared funds in our account at least 2 working days before hire. 

Q) Is there a daily mileage?                                                                                                                                                   A) The rental includes unlimited U.K & Ireland only mileage. A small 5p per mile charge applies if or when you reach 100 miles during your hire.

Q) Do I have to tell you where I am going in the van?                                                                                            

A) We may ask what your plans are, so we have an idea of where the van may be in case of emergency or breakdowns. We also reserve the right to turn down rentals we believe may put the van at risk of being damaged or stolen or that we suspect to be used in illegal activity.

Q) Can I take it to a festival?

A) We do not permit vehicle hire for use at mainstream festivals the insurance policy will not cover this activity. However community / family events are permitted but we will need to know the details so we can ensure the vehicle is covered on the insurance.

We reserve the right to cancel or terminate any bookings that are being used for this without permission. 

 

Q) How do I pay?

A) We accept cheque or bank transfers and the details will be supplied to you on booking

  

Q) What if I need to cancel?

A) If you cancel your trip up to 4 weeks before the agreed hire date 50% of the total hire cost paid will be refunded, if you cancel with less than 4 weeks to hire date no monies will be refunded. We recommend you take out holiday insurance that covers cancellation fees. 

The initial booking deposit is non-refundable, however if Covid-19 travel restrictions apply at the time of your holiday a full refund will be given. 

Q) Do you do weddings?

A) Please let us know your requirements, we may be able to accommodate this. 

Q) Can I smoke in the Van?

A) No smoking is not permitted in the van at any time and a £250 charge will be deducted from the deposit should any evidence of this be discovered to cover cleaning. 

Q) Can I bring my dog?

A) Yes, both our vans are dog friendly, please bring pet bedding and keep seats clean, there will be a charge of £60 if any extra cleaning is needed. Depending on the size or how many pets you have will depend which van is best, Our vans are only suitable for two small dogs or one medium size dog.

Q) Do I bring my own bedding?

A) Yes, please bring your own bedding and pillows or sleeping bags, mattress toppers are provided by us to cover and protect the fold down seats and mattress. 

Q) How does the electric work in the van?

A) The van fridge, lighting and USB charging points all run via the leaisure battery fitting to the vehicle. 240v Electric hook up (EHU) is available to you and we provide the cable, however you will need to book an electric hook up pitch with the campsite you are staying on. Torches are provided in each van.

Q) What fuel does the van use?

A) Our vans run on diesel. They come with a full tank of fuel and we ask you to return it with a full tank. 

Q) What appliances are in the Van?

A) Cooker with gas cylinder, there are two gas rings on the stove which are connected to a gas cylinder which is provided and included in the rental price. Sink with running water from a refillable storage tank, fridge/freezer, fire extinguisher, electric hook up cable. The van is fully equipped with items for camping and listed separately on an inventory.  

Q) What’s the storage like?

A) Whilst there is storage we recommend you travel as light as possible to give you more room inside the van and soft bags would be better than suitcases.  Photos of the storage areas can be provided to you before your trip if requested.

Q) Where do you pick the Van up from?

A) From our address in Bridgend, South Wales, there is secure parking for your own vehicle on site with barrier entry covered by CCTV.

Q) What if we break down?

A) In the unlikely event the van breaks down it is fully covered by a recovery company and if the vehicle cannot be repaired they can bring you home or onward to your campsite until the van is repaired. If it is late and the vehicle cannot be repaired until the next day, you will be offered accommodation for one night so the vehicle can be repaired.

Q) What happens if I have an accident/collision in the van?

A) We ask that you let us know straight away and if the accident is reportable also notify the police, but if you are unsure call us first and we can help you and inform the insurance company. 

Q) How many does the van sleep?

A) All three of our campervans now have a pop up roof, so will sleep 4 people. (2 adults and 2 children) 

Q) How many can travel in the Van

A) There are four travelling seats in total, two seats with seatbelts in the rear and two in the front (including the driver) Our campervan Tom has 5 travelling seats.

 

Q) Are there Isofix points in the vans for child seats?                                                                               

A) No, however all the seats are fitted with standard inertia seatbelts.

Q) Do I have to sign a contract? 

A) We ask you to sign a copy of the T&C on the day of hire, so we know you have read and accept them, we also will do a walk around with you with an inventory of any damage or contents before and after hire. 

 

Q) How is my personal information kept safe with Discovery Campers Ltd?

A) Discovery Campers Ltd comply with GDPR and respect our customer’s privacy.  Mr Tony Bennett and Mrs Angela Bennett are the data controllers.  Discovery Campers Ltd have a GDPR Policy in place.
